This is a picture of David Dorn the retired St. Louis Police Captain who was shot and killed during riots in St.Louis. He worked security for his friend’s pawn shop and was trying to protect the shop from looters. He was shot and killed. His murder was live-streamed on Facebook. He was 77 years old. I made some assumptions about David Dorn after seeing this picture. That he was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather that had a huge heart and devoted his entire life to helping others. I was correct after reading all of the articles regarding who was this hero policeman. It was on a greater level than I thought.
He worked in law enforcement for 38 years as a small-town police chief and then as a Captain on the St. Louis. His nickname was Cap. He and his wife ran their local police explorer post working with kids from disadvantaged backgrounds. He still facilitated law enforcement training and provided security at his friend’s pawnshop where he died. His son said the blue and black ran through his veins. His son Brian’s message to the shooter was” step back from what you are doing. Let’s do this in a positive manner, we don’t have to go out and loot and do all other things.” Brian went on to say his dad would have had empathy for his murderer and forgiven them.
Antifa and Black Lives Matter are using the death of George Floyd as an excuse to destabilize the country for political purposes. Chauvin murdered George Floyd and the other officers were complicit. In a country where nobody agrees on anything, everyone agrees George Floyd was murdered. The charge of systemic racism fueling a genocide on African Americans by the police is not true. There were 41 police shootings that killed unarmed people in 2019. 20 of them were white, 10 were black, and 1 was another race. These stats are from the Washington Post’s Police Shooting Data Base. Blacks are 13% of the population and it is true that they are disproportionally killed.
The common denominator in all 41 deaths is poverty and drugs. The charge of systemic racism is a ruse to prevent the progressive left from being held accountable for the failing cities and school systems that they run. Robert Woodson a civil rights leader and the founder of the Woodson Center told Tucker Carlson regarding the $22 trillion spent on poverty programs the past 50 years., “So many of those people taking office use this money to create a class of people who are running these cities, and now after 50 years of liberal Democrats running the inner cities, where we have all these inequities that we have, race is being used as a ruse, as means of deflecting attention away from critical questions such as why are poor blacks failings in systems run by their own people?”
Minnesota and Minneapolis have been run exclusively by Democrats and mostly from the progressive wing of the party. The death of George Floyd happened under their watch and the systemic racism charge is to deflect from that reality. Chauvin was a bad cop with a long record of problems. Why was he still a cop? Why was the Minneapolis police involved with the investigation of an alleged counterfeit $20 dollar bill? I thought that was turned over to the secret service? There are a lot of questions that need to be answered. The protests are a distraction preventing the real questions from being asked to make sure what happened to George Floyd never happens to anyone of any skin color.
George Floyd was a good person with some troubles in his past that he was looking to get behind him. The tragic irony in all of this is that he could have used a friend like Cap at this point in his life. I hope George and Cap are together now. Sadly, George’s memory is being turned into a mockery, and Cap is a tragic footnote. George and Cap deserve better. The race politics needs to stop. The big city Mayor’s need to stand up to the rioters and put an end to this immediately.
