Faith and freedom—Christian values stand strong in America.
It’s astonishing how many people—even those who claim to stand for conservative values—still say things like, “I just can’t support Trump. I don’t like how he talks,” or, “He’s too brash for me. He’s not presidential enough.” But Christian support for Trump is not about style—it’s about truth.
Let me ask you this: Is that truly what matters most to you? In a world where Christian values are being systematically torn down, do we really have the luxury of prioritizing style over substance?
Now more than ever, we need to move past personality politics and focus on policy. Whether you like his tone or not, Donald J. Trump has been a strong defender of the very truths that Christians claim to care about—truths that are increasingly under attack in our schools, our institutions, and even our churches.
As believers, we are not called to worship political leaders, but we are called to recognize and support truth. And sometimes, God uses unexpected people to accomplish His purposes. If we fail to see that because we’re focused on the wrong criteria, we may find ourselves standing on the sidelines while God moves through someone we didn’t expect.
Let’s take a closer look at how Donald Trump has championed Christian values in concrete, policy-driven ways—because these are the things that truly matter.
Pro-Life to the Core: Protecting the Sanctity of Human Life
Arguably, the most significant action President Trump took in support of Christian values was his unwavering stand for the unborn. We often say we believe that life begins at conception. Trump didn’t just say it—he acted on it.
During his presidency, he reinstated and expanded the Mexico City Policy, preventing U.S. tax dollars from funding international organizations that promote or perform abortions. That alone was a massive win for the pro-life movement.
But more significantly, he appointed three Supreme Court justices—Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett—who helped overturn Roe v. Wade in the 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson decision. That ruling sent shockwaves through the political landscape, returning the power to legislate abortion back to the states and giving the American people a voice in the matter.
For nearly 50 years, Christians have marched, prayed, and worked to see Roe overturned. Trump did what no one else had done. He delivered.
The Bible says in Proverbs 24:11-12 (NIV):
“Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say, ‘But we knew nothing about this,’ does not he who weighs the heart perceive it?”
Trump didn’t ignore the cries of the unborn—and Christians should never forget that.
Defending Truth in Gender and Sports
One of the most heated cultural battles today is over gender identity—an issue that cuts to the heart of God’s created order. Scripture tells us clearly in Genesis 1:27 (NIV):
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
Yet today, we’re told that gender is a feeling, not a fact. Biological males are allowed to compete against females in sports, shattering records and stealing opportunities from women who have worked their whole lives to compete fairly.
This isn’t just an issue of fairness—it’s a truth issue. And Trump has not backed down.
He has boldly stated that transgender athletes should not compete in women’s sports, and he has vowed to protect the integrity of Title IX if re-elected. This isn’t bigotry—it’s biblical truth, and it’s basic biology. And when few others will speak up, Trump does.
Female athletes are being silenced. Parents are being labeled as extremists for simply wanting to protect their daughters. Christian views on gender and sexuality are being branded as “hate speech.” And still, Trump stands firm.
That kind of courage matters—especially when truth is under attack from every angle.
Championing Religious Liberty
As Christians, we are called to live out our faith boldly—but increasingly, that freedom is being challenged. Under the Trump administration, religious liberty wasn’t just protected—it was prioritized.
He signed executive orders protecting prayer in public schools, making it clear that students and teachers have a First Amendment right to express their faith without fear of punishment. His Department of Justice created a Religious Liberty Task Force to ensure that federal laws and policies did not infringe on the rights of believers.
Under his leadership, Christian business owners like Jack Phillips (the cake artist who declined to create a cake celebrating a same-sex wedding) received public support and legal protection. That matters, especially as more and more Christians are being dragged into court simply for living out their convictions.
Let’s not forget: under the Obama-Biden administration, nuns were forced to provide contraception coverage that violated their faith. Trump stopped that. He gave people of faith room to breathe again.
Standing with Israel: A Covenant Honored
God made it clear in Genesis 12:3 (NIV):
“I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Trump recognized the significance of Israel—not just geopolitically, but spiritually. He was the first U.S. president to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moved the American embassy there in 2018, fulfilling decades of empty promises from previous administrations.
He also brokered the Abraham Accords, normalizing relations between Israel and several Arab nations—a historic and prophetic development.
As believers, we know that Israel is at the center of God’s redemptive plan. Trump’s unwavering support for Israel stands in stark contrast to the current administration’s passive and often hostile tone toward our greatest ally in the Middle East.
Fighting Wokeness and Cancel Culture
We are living in a time when speaking biblical truth comes at a cost. Speak out about God’s design for marriage? You’re a bigot. Refuse to affirm gender confusion? You’re hateful. Uphold life in the womb? You’re “anti-woman.”
Cancel culture is real, and Christians are a primary target.
Trump has been one of the few public leaders to directly confront this toxic ideology. He has called out the intolerance of the left, the anti-Christian bias in the media, and the efforts to erase traditional values from public life.
Let’s be honest—he says what many of us are thinking, but are too afraid to say. And while his style might not be polished, his willingness to fight matters.
Cancel culture thrives on silence. Trump refuses to be silent—and in doing so, he gives voice to millions of Christians who feel unheard, ridiculed, and marginalized.
Judicial Appointments That Will Impact Generations
We already mentioned the Supreme Court, but let’s go further. Trump appointed over 230 federal judges, many of whom are constitutional originalists who respect religious liberty, parental rights, and the rule of law.
These judges will be handing down decisions for decades—long after Trump is out of office. That’s lasting influence. That’s long-term protection for Christian freedom.
Promoting School Choice and Parental Rights
Trump has been a vocal supporter of school choice, advocating for parents—not the government—to have the final say in their child’s education. That’s not just good policy—it’s biblical.
Deuteronomy 6:6–7 (NIV) tells us:
“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road…”
God gives parents the responsibility to train up their children—not the state. Trump’s policies empower parents to choose schools that align with their values, whether they be Christian schools, charter schools, or homeschooling.
Compare that to the left’s push to indoctrinate kids with radical gender ideology, critical race theory, and anti-Christian worldviews, and the contrast couldn’t be clearer.
Border Security, Rule of Law, and the Biblical Case for Legal Immigration
Another area where Trump has taken a strong biblical stance is on immigration. While the left has embraced open borders and defied federal law, Trump stood firm on the importance of law and order—a principle rooted in Scripture.
Romans 13:1-2 (NIV) says:
“Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established…Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted.”
Open borders are not compassionate—they’re chaotic. When people pour in illegally, ignoring our immigration laws, they are undermining the very rule of law God calls us to uphold. And when cities and states defy federal immigration law, they are sowing rebellion.
Trump’s efforts to build the border wall, enforce legal immigration, and end sanctuary policies weren’t about cruelty—they were about sovereignty. A nation without borders ceases to be a nation.
But there’s more. With mass illegal immigration, we are seeing an influx of belief systems that directly oppose Christian truth—including Islam, Marxism, and militant secularism. This isn’t fearmongering. It’s reality. As Christians, we should welcome individuals from every background—legally—but not at the expense of truth or national stability.
A country that disregards its laws and loses its identity will also lose its moral clarity. Trump understood this. He wasn’t afraid to say it.
Final Thoughts on Christian Support for Trump: We Don’t Need a Savior—We Have One
I’m not saying Donald Trump is a saint. He’s not. He’s made mistakes. We all have. But God doesn’t require perfection to use someone for His purposes.
Think of Moses. Think of David. Think of Paul. All flawed. All used mightily by God.
We already have a Savior. His name is Jesus Christ. We’re not looking for another. What we are looking for is someone who’s willing to fight for the things that matter to Christians in this hour—life, truth, religious freedom, and family.
In Trump, we’ve seen someone who’s willing to step into the fire, take the arrows, and say the hard things. He’s not afraid to stand against the cultural tide. That alone should make us stop and consider where we stand.
A Call to Christians: Look at the Fruit, Not Just the Face
Jesus said in Matthew 7:16 (NIV):
“By their fruit you will recognize them.”
So what’s the fruit? Life protected. Religious freedom defended. Gender truth upheld. Israel supported. Courts transformed. Borders secured.
That’s the fruit. And it’s good.
So if you’re a Christian who’s been on the fence—skeptical because of Trump’s tone or manner—maybe it’s time to stop judging the tree by the bark and start judging it by the fruit.
The future of our faith in public life depends on whether we stand up for those who are standing up for us.
