What Christians Need to Know About Aftyn Behn

December 1, 2025 by Arch Kennedy

Tomorrow, Tennessee voters will decide whether to send Democrat candidate Aftyn Behn to Congress, and as a Christian, I can’t ignore what she publicly stands for. This isn’t about partisan loyalty or telling anyone how to vote. It’s about looking honestly at what she has said, what she promotes, and how her worldview aligns with or directly opposes Scripture.

I always evaluate leaders through a biblical lens, and when I began researching Aftyn Behn, I found a pattern that Christians need to be aware of.

The worldview behind Aftyn Behn’s activism openly rejects biblical truth on life, gender, and God’s created design, which is why Christians should understand her positions before they cast a vote.

Aftyn Behn’s Public Positions Conflict With Scripture

The more I read her statements, the more clear it became that her values are shaped by progressive ideology, not Scripture. She has repeatedly criticized Christian influence in Tennessee politics, framing pastors, prayer groups, and conservative believers as a threat. That alone tells me she does not understand or respect the role of faith in public life.

According to the coverage from the Associated Press in their report on the Tennessee special election, she presents herself as a defender of “reproductive rights” and an opponent of conservative Christian influence in policymaking. You can read it in the AP’s own words here in their report: AP News coverage of the Behn vs. Van Epps election.

When I evaluate this as a Christian, the issue is not that she is a Democrat. It’s that the foundation of her worldview contradicts the authority of Scripture at key points.

Her Position On Gender Ideology Rejects God’s Created Design

One clear example is Aftyn Behn’s support of transgender ideology. She has strongly aligned herself with groups that advocate for medical transition, including minors, and she opposes any legislative effort that protects children from irreversible procedures.

But Scripture is explicit. God’s design is not fluid or self-defined. Genesis 1:27 says clearly that God created humanity “male and female.” I linked the passage here for reference: Genesis 1:27.

This is not a complicated issue. Christians are not being hateful, political, or rigid when we affirm what God has made. We are simply standing on His Word.

In my own writing about gender ideology, I’ve warned believers repeatedly about the spiritual confusion behind these movements. If anyone wants a biblical foundation for why Christians must oppose these ideas, you can read my full explanation here: The Christian Response to Gender Ideology.

Her View Of Truth Is Rooted In Cultural Relativism

Another concern I have is how openly she embraces cultural relativism. She presents morality as a social construct, not a divine standard. You can see this worldview in how she speaks about faith in public life and how she frames Christian influence as dangerous.

But relativism is not compatible with biblical Christianity. Truth is not created by culture or personal experience. Truth comes from God. I addressed this in detail in another piece for anyone who wants a deeper understanding: Biblical Truth vs Cultural Relativism.

Her Abortion Stance Is Also Clear

Aftyn Behn has stated publicly that she supports abortion access and believes the government should not restrict it. In every interview I reviewed, she positions abortion as essential healthcare and rejects biblical arguments for life.

To me, this tells us everything we need to know about how she sees the unborn, and again, Scripture is clear about human dignity, the value of life, and God’s intimate creation of every person in the womb.

What I Believe Christians Should Do In A Moment Like This

I’m not telling anyone how to vote. I’m simply saying what I’ve learned as a Christian who tries to evaluate every issue through Scripture. When someone is asking for political authority while openly opposing God’s design for life, gender, and truth, believers should take notice.

Here is what I personally keep coming back to as I think through this election:

— Test every worldview against Scripture.
— Love people, but refuse to affirm falsehood.
— Protect children from ideological confusion and spiritual deception.
— Stand for life, truth, and God’s created design.
— Pray for leaders, even those who oppose biblical values.
— Maintain a bold, unashamed faith in public and private.
— Anchor my identity, and our identity as believers, in Christ, not in culture or politics.

Why This Election Matters For Believers

Tomorrow’s election is not just a political moment. It’s a spiritual one. When a candidate publicly opposes biblical truth, embraces relativism, and promotes radical gender ideology, Christians should at least be aware of what those beliefs mean for the direction of their community.

I’m not motivated by outrage or partisanship. I’m motivated by the desire to be faithful. And faithfulness requires discernment.

Whether Aftyn Behn wins or loses, my responsibility remains the same: hold fast to Scripture, speak the truth in love, and stand firm when the culture pushes Christians to compromise.

Mr Kennedy should vote when there’s an election for Pastor. Our Constitution is a secular document that establishes a secular government. All are welcome at the table of state – but no one’s holy books have any standing in the process.
