When I watched the clip of a protester being asked, “You’re glad Charlie Kirk is dead?” and hearing her answer, “Yes, because of his hate,” I felt something deeper than political disgust. I felt spiritual chills. The moment was played on a podcast hosted by Jennifer Welch, who went on to tell Democrats they should “get on board” with that same energy. You can read the transcript and watch the segment on RealClearPolitics.
That single exchange summed up what I have been sensing for months on social media, a growing willingness to rejoice over someone’s death if that person happened to be on the “wrong” side of politics. It is not just coarse rhetoric anymore. It is a culture celebrating death, and that reveals a darkness far beyond partisan anger.
When a society begins celebrating death, it is no longer debating policy. It is abandoning its soul.

What Happened
RealClearPolitics reported that Jennifer Welch played the video of a protester affirming that she was glad Charlie Kirk was dead, and then told Democrats to stop criticizing that sentiment and “get behind” activists like New York Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani.
The story spread quickly because it was not an isolated example. Major outlets across the spectrum have reported cases of people mocking or celebrating Kirk’s death online. Here are several verified or well-documented incidents that illustrate how widespread this callousness has become:
— Massachusetts: Local news station WCVB reported that teachers in Holden were placed on leave after posting celebratory or mocking comments about Kirk’s death.
— Iowa: The Iowa Capital Dispatch confirmed that the state’s Board of Regents asked universities to review employees’ social-media posts after similar remarks surfaced.
— California: The New York Post covered a UCLA diversity official placed on leave after posting that it was “OKAY to be happy” about Kirk’s death.
— Online platforms: Axios noted that a volunteer database catalogued tens of thousands of users who “criticized or allegedly celebrated” Kirk’s death across social networks.
— Bluesky: Newsweek and The Times of London cited examples of users posting memes such as “Rest in piss” or other taunts that glorified his killing.
— Viral Halloween video: Sportskeeda verified a California woman’s video showing herself in a Halloween costume with fake blood on the shoulder, mocking how Kirk was shot.
Each of these examples comes from public, sourced reporting, not rumor. And the pattern is undeniable. Celebration of death has become a form of social signaling.
When Society Starts Celebrating Death
This is where politics ends and morality begins. The issue is not disagreement; it is dehumanization. When people rejoice at another person’s murder, they have crossed from political conviction into spiritual blindness.
Scripture speaks directly to this:
— “Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice.” — Proverbs 24:17-18
— “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.” — Isaiah 5:20
— “You are of your father the devil… He was a murderer from the beginning.” — John 8:44
The Bible does not mince words. To celebrate death is to echo the voice of the murderer himself, the enemy of life. That is why this moment feels spiritual. It is not just a cultural lapse; it is the manifestation of a demonic worldview that delights in destruction.
A Culture Numb to Life
Scrolling through comments and posts after Kirk’s murder, I saw thousands of people writing things like “karma,” “good riddance,” or “finally.” Some of these users attached rainbow emojis or political slogans, turning a man’s death into a punchline for virtue signaling.
This numbness to human life is what happens when a society untethers itself from God. The late theologian Francis Schaeffer warned that once absolute truth disappears, the value of life disappears with it. We are watching that prophecy unfold.
Romans 1:28-32 describes a time when people “did not see fit to acknowledge God,” so He “gave them over to a depraved mind.” The passage lists the results: envy, murder, strife, heartlessness, ruthlessness. That is the mirror of modern social media.
Why This Transcends Politics
I know some will say, “There are hateful people on both sides.” Of course there are. Human sin is not partisan. But what is happening here is overwhelmingly coming from one direction because it is tied to something deeper than ideology, it is tied to belief.
Many on today’s political left openly reject biblical faith, mock Christianity, and treat moral absolutes as oppression. When a movement detaches itself from the Author of Life, celebrating death becomes, tragically, consistent. That does not mean every Democrat is evil. It means the dominant worldview within the progressive movement no longer sees human life through a sacred lens.
This is not about Republicans versus Democrats. It is about believers versus unbelief, light versus darkness. And that is why it gives me chills. The divide we are seeing is spiritual first, political second.
If you want to see how a loss of faith opens the door to chaos, read When Faith Fades, Chaos Grows. It explains why a society that abandons God will inevitably lose its moral compass.
The Moral Consequences
When a society celebrates death:
— Justice turns into vengeance. “He deserved it” replaces “May God have mercy.”
— Truth gives way to emotion. Outrage becomes the new righteousness.
— Compassion disappears. People cheer tragedy because empathy has been trained out of them.
This same spirit shows up in entertainment, in social media mobs, and even in schools that teach morality as relative. The result is predictable, cruelty disguised as virtue.
A Biblical Diagnosis
Jesus warned in Matthew 24:12 that “because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” That is exactly what I see scrolling through comment threads. Love has grown cold.
We are witnessing a culture that no longer blushes at evil. Instead, it applauds it. The prophet Jeremiah asked, “Were they ashamed when they committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed; they did not know how to blush.” (Jeremiah 6:15)
That is America in 2025. And the only antidote is repentance.
Not Hopeless, But a Wake-Up Call
Despite how dark it looks, this is also an opportunity for Christians to shine. Every time the world glorifies death, we have the privilege of proclaiming life—Jesus Christ Himself.
Romans 12:21 says, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” That is our call. We cannot out-shout hatred, but we can out-love it. We can model what it means to mourn even our enemies, to value every soul, and to point the world back to the cross where mercy triumphed over judgment.
If you want a reminder of how truth is twisted and labeled as hate, read Charlie Kirk, Culture, and the Lie That Truth Equals Hate. It connects directly to what we are seeing now.
Where We Go from Here
So yes, I am angry. But it is a righteous anger, the kind Jesus showed when He saw hypocrisy and hardness of heart. My anger is not about losing political ground; it is about losing moral ground.
When I see people mocking a murder, laughing about a blood-stained Halloween shirt, or justifying hatred “because of his hate,” I do not see activism. I see evil. And I am determined not to stay silent about it.
This is not a call to vengeance. It is a call to vigilance. The moment we start excusing or ignoring joy over death, we join the darkness we are supposed to resist. My prayer is that Christians, on every side of politics, will recognize what is really happening and refuse to participate in the celebration of death.

Jesus Is the Only Way — The Truth That Offends
Arch, I enjoy your eloquent, Bible-based writings so much. God had truly gifted you with wisdom, discernment, and courage. May God protect you as you use your influence to proclaim His truth❤️.
The murder of the United Health CEO and subsequent celebration from lefties shocked me. Then came Charlie Kirk’s murder and even more celebration. I have been thinking long and hard about this phenomenon ever since.
I now believe that if you openly reject God, the door is opened to evil, or Satan is how I visualize it, and then it’s possible to feel celebratory over the murder of someone you disagree with.
Do you remember at a democrat convention (maybe 2012) when God was brought up and the audience booed? I’m sure a few democrats didn’t boo, but enough did that it was noticeable. That foretold what was to come.
I appreciate this piece and now will go on to read some more of yours. Thank you.
This may be one of the best yet my love! You have captured the sentiment of what is happening in our society and nailed the call to Christians. Praying for the lost to be filled with the Spirit. Only light can drive out the darkness
