In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, former Governor Mike Huckabee made a bold statement: Hamas is hoarding humanitarian food aid, blocking it from reaching the people of Gaza, and then blaming Israel for the resulting starvation. Huckabee accused Hamas of stealing supplies, selling them on the black market, and using the suffering of civilians as a weapon against Israel. I believe him — because I know the truth about Hamas in Gaza, and the facts back up his claim.
I’ve seen too many people take the word of secular global institutions like the United Nations over godly men like Mike Huckabee. To me, the choice is clear. The UN operates with political agendas that often run counter to biblical truth, while Huckabee has spent his career openly living out his faith and standing for what is right. When it comes to the reality on the ground in Gaza, I trust his assessment over the narratives pushed by those who have no foundation in God’s Word.

What Hamas in Gaza Really Is
Let’s be factual here. Hamas in Gaza is not just a political movement — it is a terrorist organization, recognized as such by the United States, the European Union, Canada, and Israel. Hamas seized control of Gaza in 2007 through a violent overthrow of the Palestinian Authority. Since then, it has maintained absolute power through fear, brutality, and a network of armed militias.
Hamas has a documented history of killing — not only Israelis but also Palestinians who dare to oppose them. Human rights organizations, including those often critical of Israel, have reported Hamas executing suspected collaborators, torturing dissidents, and shooting protesters. Their rule is marked by suppression of free speech, persecution of minorities, and the imposition of extremist sharia law. And let’s not forget: Hamas’s own charter calls for the destruction of Israel.
How Hamas Handles Aid
We don’t have to speculate about how Hamas treats humanitarian aid — the facts are out there. International reports, including from Reuters and UN agencies, confirm that aid shipments into Gaza have been looted amid chaos, and that Hamas has long taxed and controlled the flow of goods to maintain its grip on the population. While some agencies dispute the scale of systematic theft, the reality is that no aid moves in Gaza without Hamas’s involvement or approval.
Even before this current crisis, Hamas was known to divert building materials and resources meant for civilians to construct tunnels and fortifications for war. This is a pattern — not a one-off accusation. It is entirely plausible, even likely, that Hamas is doing exactly what Huckabee says: manipulating aid to strengthen its own position while letting its people suffer.
Israel in the Middle of the Storm
Now, I know Israel isn’t perfect. It is a modern, largely secular state with its own political divisions and shortcomings. But let’s be honest: it is the only functioning democracy in the Middle East. It upholds freedoms that simply do not exist under Hamas — freedoms for women, religious minorities, and yes, even LGBTQ citizens.
And yet, I see Western activists — including many in the LGBTQ community — siding with “Palestine,” which in Gaza’s case means siding with Hamas. This makes no sense. In Hamas-controlled territory, homosexuality is a capital offense. Free expression is crushed. Religious minorities live under constant threat. Israel, for all its flaws, is a beacon of stability and the only nation in the region that protects those rights. If you want to understand why I support Israel’s right to defend itself, you can read more in my post on why we must support Israel.
Who Really Starts the Violence
Let’s be clear: Hamas is the instigator. The current war began with Hamas’s brutal October 7, 2023 assault on Israel, killing around 1,200 people and taking hundreds hostage. In the rare cases when Israel has acted first, it has been strategic preemptive self-defense — targeted actions to stop an imminent or ongoing attack. That’s not aggression; that’s protection.
Since October 7, Israel has been fighting to defend itself against a group that hides its weapons in schools, uses hospitals as command centers, and places rocket launchers in residential neighborhoods. Civilian casualties in Gaza are tragic and often unavoidable — but they are the direct result of Hamas’s deliberate tactics. War brings collateral damage, but Israel’s intent is self-defense. Hamas’s intent is destruction.
Why Huckabee Is Right
Given Hamas’s history of violence, oppression, and manipulation of aid, Huckabee’s claim is not only reasonable — it’s consistent with established facts. Hamas has both the motive and the means to block humanitarian supplies, all while shifting blame onto Israel to win sympathy from the international community.
I believe Mike Huckabee because his account matches what I already know about Hamas in Gaza — a regime that thrives on chaos, death, and propaganda. And I believe him because I trust the discernment of a godly man far more than the spin of a godless institution.
Hamas wants the world to see Israel as the villain. The truth is, the real enemy of the people of Gaza is the one ruling over them with an iron fist. And until we start speaking that truth without fear, Hamas will keep winning the propaganda war.
