When Victimhood Overshadows National Defense

JULY 27, 2017 BY ARCH KENNEDY

The Democrat response to the issues of today is getting so predictable.

I knew when Trump tweeted out about his reinstatement of the transgender policy Pre-Obama Presidency, that the Left was going to go ballistic. And right on cue, what do Ya know? It was all they could talk about all day long. Never mind that we have health care to deal with as many are without and unable to pay premiums. Or that Imran Awan, a longtime IT aide to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz is being investigated by the FBI for Bank Fraud and, that FBI agents seized smashed computer hard drives from his home. We have transgenders with hurt feelings and Equality to discuss!

Sometimes we have to put our country above "feelings". My thoughts on Trump's transgender ban reinstatement. By Arch Kennedy

I am gay and came out at 19. I am now 47. During my going out years, my gay friends not only did not hang out with transgenders, they made fun of them. Transgenders were not “part of the crowd”. So it is astounding to watch the liberal gay community latch on to this as a cause today. I guess when you have fought for tolerance so long and you finally have it, it is hard to stop old habits and feelings of victimization. The problem is, there is nothing left to fight. So, the gay Left has to make something up.

Now, the straight Left have different priorities. They never let a chance at social justice go to waste. It is hilarious that there was not this much of an uproar when Bill Clinton installed Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. And, this encompassed the whole alphabet, LGBTQ! Where was all of the hate and anger then? This was a perfect chance to use Donald Trump as the culprit bigot and push a social experiment by appealing to emotion rather than logic and reason.

It’s not about you, transgenders! I feel for what you must go through. It must be tough. But, this isn’t about discrimination. It is about our national defense. There is a list a mile long of those who cannot serve in the military and it goes from everything from diabetics to people with hearing and eye problems. The list is LONG and can be found here at military.com. Cutting off sexual body parts or adding them on and having to go on hormone treatment the rest of your life most certainly is a liability to the military. I trust our generals in the military and their advice to Trump more than anyone else.

But, alas, the Democrats will only look at this issue with “feelings” and no reason or logic and conservatives like me will look like the bad guy who doesn’t care about people. We all have our sad stories in this life. Life isn’t fair. I took care of a sick mother my whole life since I was 12 years old and life was not always easy being gay. But, I didn’t make it a government issue. Transgenders are not discriminated in the work place. This is the military. A whole different ball game. One of the few purposes our Founding Fathers designed government for, was to defend our country from outside hostile forces. Our leaders know how to do that and to challenge them on this issue is un-American.

It is a different day. Frustration is abound in politics. No one seems to compromise. Polarizing political figures give fodder for all of the media sources that now contain bias for one candidate or another. Journalism truly is dead.

So where do everyday Americans find truth in today’s world of social media and the internet where everyone has a voice and an opinion?

Well, we can change the forecast for our country (excuse the pun) by continuing to search for truth and have honest discussions even if they are uncomfortable.

Yes, I am a Christian, conservative, who happens to be gay, and I don’t need a person or media source telling me how to be any of the three. The days of identity politics are over and I am here to expose it.
