There’s a lie our culture is trying to sell us: that men can become women simply by identifying as one. But no matter how many hormones are taken or surgeries performed, a man is still a man — biologically, spiritually, and biblically. And when that lie seeps into sports, it doesn’t just distort truth — it destroys fairness, erases real women, and mocks the God who created us male and female.
That’s why this ruling hits close to home for me. Lia Thomas — born Will Thomas — represents more than just a swimmer. He represents an entire movement that’s actively trying to erase truth, and I simply cannot stay silent about it.

What Happened at the University of Pennsylvania
In June 2025, the University of Pennsylvania reached a voluntary resolution agreement with the U.S. Department of Education after a Title IX investigation concluded that the university had violated federal law by allowing Lia Thomas, a biological male, to compete on the women’s swim team.
The result?
- UPenn agreed to ban biological males from competing in women’s sports.
- The school will revise athletic records, stripping Thomas of any women’s titles and restoring them to the actual female athletes who earned them.
- It must publicly post policies defining male and female according to biology — not identity.
- And UPenn will issue apology letters to the women who were displaced by this injustice.
This isn’t just a win for sports. It’s a win for truth, biology, and biblical reality.

Who Is Lia Thomas — and Why It Matters
Will Thomas was an average swimmer on UPenn’s men’s team before identifying as female and competing against women. Suddenly, Thomas started dominating races — not because of better training or talent, but because he was now swimming against athletes with vastly different biology.
Let’s be honest — Thomas didn’t become a better swimmer. He just changed categories. That’s not bravery. That’s not progress. That’s cheating wrapped in ideology.
And as I watched it unfold, I was grieved — not just for the integrity of sports, but for the young women who worked so hard only to be robbed of recognition, titles, and opportunities. I kept asking myself, how are we allowing this to happen?
Why This Is Unfair to Women
I believe with all my heart that God designed men and women differently — intentionally. Scripture says, “He created them male and female” (Genesis 1:27), and science backs that up.
- Men have larger hearts and lungs
- Higher bone density and muscle mass
- Stronger fast-twitch muscle fibers
- Greater limb leverage and strength potential
Even after hormone therapy, those structural advantages don’t magically disappear. A 2021 study in the British Journal of Sports Medicine showed that biological males still retained a 9–11% performance advantage over females after a year on hormones.
So when people say hormone treatments “level the playing field,” I don’t buy it — because it simply isn’t true. And I’ve asked myself this over and over: How is it even remotely fair for a female swimmer to lose a race — or a scholarship — because a man decides he feels like a woman?
It’s not fair. It’s cruel.
Loving the Person, Rejecting the Lie
Let me be clear: I don’t hate anyone. In fact, I’ve dealt with my own struggles around identity, addiction, and brokenness. I know what it’s like to feel confused, to wrestle with temptation, and to want to escape pain. But I also know what it means to be rescued — to be redeemed by truth, not affirmed in confusion.
So when I speak out about issues like this, it’s not from hatred. It’s from love — the kind of love that tells the truth even when it’s unpopular.
Will Thomas is not my enemy. But the ideology that enabled him to steal glory from young women — that absolutely is. That ideology doesn’t come from God. It comes from a world that has embraced lies over truth.
This is exactly what I wrote about in my post on biblical truth vs. cultural relativism — we’re watching culture rewrite reality, and it’s leading people straight into confusion and chaos.
The Spiritual Battle Behind It All
I don’t see this as just a political issue or a sports issue. I see it as a spiritual war. The enemy is working overtime to blur lines, confuse hearts, and dismantle what God created as good.
The Bible says Satan is the father of lies (John 8:44), and this movement — this gender ideology — is one of his most aggressive lies in our time.
When men compete as women…
When children are told they can change genders…
When society punishes truth-tellers and applauds delusion…
That’s not tolerance. That’s rebellion against God. And rebellion has consequences — not just eternally, but here and now. Families suffer. Young people are led astray. And real women are pushed to the sidelines.
Why This Ruling Matters
This UPenn ruling sends a bold message: Truth still matters. Biology still matters. Women still matter.
And I thank God for it. But this isn’t the end of the battle — it’s just the beginning.
For me, this isn’t just about protecting fairness in sports. It’s about standing up for the truth of God’s design — boldly, compassionately, and without compromise. I believe God has given me a voice to speak on these things, and I intend to use it. Not to tear people down, but to defend what’s true, uplift what’s right, and expose what’s deceptive.
We can love those who are struggling while refusing to affirm the lies that are destroying them.
The world may call that bigotry.
God calls it obedience.
This ruling matters because it draws a line in the sand. A moment when truth pushed back. And if we don’t stand up now — for women, for children, for truth — we may lose far more than a swimming title.
